Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd (RBEI), the engineering and IT business solution arm of Bosch Group, is strengthening its aerospace business by focusing on products and solutions.
Commenting on the development, RBEI Aerospace Business General Manager and Head Hari Prasad H S said the focus is on connected aircraft, smart manufacturing, electric propulsion and actuation where Bosch has an established pedigree.
“We see aerospace as a very attractive industry. The global aerospace industry is growing at a sustainable rate of 5% (CAGR) and Tier-1 and Tier-2 product and system suppliers are seeing healthy double digit profitability,” Prasad said.
Bosch, which started supporting the aerospace industry since 1930s, is actively supporting aviation customers in engine components and ground systems for manufacturing and other activities. RBEI began its aerospace operation three years ago.
“The aerospace engineering and delivery teams are spread across various business units within RBEI. Based on the competencies and type of programmes being worked upon, engineers from various disciplines within RBEI support aerospace programmes. RBEI has 19,500 associates,” he said.
Besides growing market share for the existing solutions like engine components and ground systems and solutions, Prasad said RBEI is focusing on connectivity solutions, solution integrator and drones.
He claimed that Bosch has strong brand presence in automotive and other industries but the company is not yet well known in the aerospace industry. “We are focusing on the areas where Bosch has strong differentiation,” he said.
Prasad said RBEI has excelled in end-to-end product engineering, high quality and precision manufacturing, and long term commitment supported by manufacturing expertise.
Besides Bengaluru, aerospace industry is also supported by Bosch units in Coimbatore, Germany, UK and Netherlands.
