City will receive rain for another couple of days, says IMD

On Sunday, Bengalureans ventured out in their winter wear, carrying umbrellas. The skies remained overcast throughout the day. The city received light rainfall and recorded a drop in the temperature.

The city received 0.4 mm of rainfall till 5.30 pm,while the HAL airport recorded 4 mm of rainfall and the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) received 0.8 mm of rainfall.

Till 8.30 am, the city had received 2 mm of rainfall, the HAL airport had recorded 1.7 mm of rainfall and the KIA had received 0.2 mm of rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum and the minimum temperatures in the city on Sunday up to 5.30 pm were 25.4 degrees Celsius and 19.3 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was 1.6 degrees Celsius below normal and the minimum temperature was 0.3 degrees Celsius above normal.

The IMD officials have forecast a cloudy sky, coupled with light rainfall and mist, during morning hours. Cloudy sky and rainfall have led to a drop in the temperature which is normal during the northeast monsoon period.

There is also a trough of low at mean sea level over southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southeast Tamil Nadu and the Comorin area. Under the influence of this system cloudy sky and rainfall will continue for the next two days, said the IMD officials.
