'UoM PhD entrance exam questions lifted from website'

Last Updated 08 November 2017, 18:59 IST

University of Mysore (UoM) is again in news for a wrong reason. The candidates, who had appeared for the entrance examination seeking admission for PhD in Political Science, recently, have alleged that several questions were copied from a website and printed exactly as published in the website.

According to the candidates, the questions were copied from a website 'www.currentgk.com'. The 100 marks question paper comprised 50 marks for essay type questions and 50 marks for objective type questions. Eighteen questions of objective type have been copied from the website and printed as it is, they claimed.

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC), anyone who want to enroll for PhD should clear the entrance examination and prepare course work. The authorities will appoint a guide only after a year of completion of course work.

In-charge vice chancellor Dayananda Mane, admitting to the lapses said that a thorough investigation will be conducted. "The varsity appoints 10 faculty members to draft 50 objective type questions and pay Rs 3,000 per question. "We will blacklist the faculty if the allegations are proved," said the VC.

"The varsity has planned for a re-examination. I have discussed the matter with the Registrar (Evaluation) in this regard," Mane said.
