The film industry is rallying behind veteran filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is embroiled in a controversy over the release of his upcoming period epic drama Padmavati and has been receiving threats.
"Threatening @SLBhansali_ is an insult to the entire entertainment industry. #Fear #MurderofFreedomofExpression. #WesupportPadmavati," tweeted filmmaker Ashok Pandit, the vice president of Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association and two-time president of the Indian Film & Television Directors Association.
The cast of the film-Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor - had tweeted on the film.
"An epic love ballad..#EkDilEkJaan @FilmPadmavati," Deepika tweeted with songs of the movie.
"An epic love ballad between a brave king and a courageous queen. #EkDilEkJaan @FilmPadmavati," tweeted Shahid Kapoor. "There's an absolutely beautiful song from #Padmavati coming up #EkDilEkJaan," tweeted Singh.
