Colloquium on patient advocacy

Yenepoya Nursing College organised a one-day international colloquium on 'Patient advocacy: role of the nurse in ensuring ethically sensitive practice'.

Dr P Anne Scott, Professor and Vice President for Equality and Diversity, National University of Ireland, Galway, expressed the importance of ethically sensitive nursing care.

Yenepoya University VC Dr M Vijayakumar spoke on the ethical issues in patient care and explained the importance of inculcating ethical principles by health care professionals in day-to-day practice.

During the course of colloquium Prof Bert Gordijn enlightened the gathering on the topic 'Introduction to ethics, hospital ethics committees and ethical case deliberation' and Dr P Anne Scott spoke on the topic 'Nursing and the moral domain of practice and Nurse as a patient advocate'. Dr Lalitha Hosamane, Principal, K V G College of Nursing, Sullia was the observer for the colloquium from Karnataka Nursing Council.
