'Census helpful in devt of nation'

Addressing at a training programme on census held at the Ambedkar Bhavan here, he said that the Census - 2011 is different from earlier census process. “Enumerators should be very attentive while filling the census forms. They should visit houses considering the timings of working family members. Chikmagalur district should bag the credit of collecting census data comphrehensively,” he added.

Town Municipality Vice-President Kasturi S Pawar said that illiterate people may refuse to provide details. Enumerators should be able to convince them and collect details from them, she added. Mysore Division Nodal Officer Muniratnam said that census was not carried out in a serious manner earlier. Officials were not bothered, even when one or two houses were omitted in an area. However, he said, “the Census - 2011 should be comprehensive that none of the houses or individuals will be left out,” he added.

He said that if enumerators themselves should go to Bangalore to correct any mistakes they commit in the data sheet during census work.

Town Municipality Commissioner Krishnamoorthi, Revenue Officer Basavaraj, Engineer Thejamoorthi and Manager Kantharaj were present.
