Addressing party workers at a meting called in view of the Gram Panchayat elections, Srinivas said that JD(S) has not tarnished its image. The party has endeared itself to the voters by its several pro-people programmes. People are disappointed with the internal squabbling in Congress. The BJP has been according priority to secure its future rather than focussing on the welfare of the people.

“Thus, there is no doubt that people will drift towards JD(S) in near future,” Srinivas predicted.

Former Zilla Panchayat vice-president M S Anand said that the victory of party candidates in the elections to Taluk Agriculture Produce Cooperative Marketing Society was itself a testimony for the bright future of the party.

The party has one voice and functions under one leadership. Voters would never swing towards Congress and BJP in spite of these parties using money and muscle power. Only JD(S) can provide solution to the present problems, claimed JD(S) Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe Cell state general secretary M Munimarappa.

The party office-bearers have been touring the district on a continuous basis to strengthen the organisation at the grassroot level. Voters at all the places have displayed their loyalty to the party, he claimed.

A huge group of ticket aspirants for the forthcoming Gram Panchayat elections had assembled at the meeting. Anand was of the opinion to field youths and favour senior leaders at Taluk and Zilla Panchayat elections.

Former Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee president K M Murali, Dr C Mohan, Shanthamma and others were present.
