Cabinet approves more medical seats

Tax concession for Toyota Kirlsokar

The present intake is 100. The government will be recruiting 28 additional faculty required for the enhancement as stipulated by the Medical Council of India (MCI) norms, Home Minister V S Acharya told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

Tax concession

The Cabinet has decided to extend entry tax concession, from the current financial year, for theToyota Kirloskar, which is expanding its manufacturing facility, investing Rs 4,000 crore, at Bidadi. The total tax concession for the three-year period is Rs 80 crore.

Acharya said, Kirloskar plans to set up a small and compact car manufacturing unit and create 2,000 jobs.

Services extended

The service of 4,056 guest teachers and 2,581 guest lecturers in government high schools and PU colleges respectively will be extended till Karnataka Public Service Commission completes its recruitment process, he said.

SC/ST certificate

The Government has written to the President of India to allow continuation of tashildars as the empowered authority for issuing SC/ST caste certificates in the State, Acharya said.

The clarification to the President comes following a Supreme Court judgement pertaining to a case related to Andhra Pradesh that sub-divisional magistrate be the empowered authority to issue such certificates, he said.
