'Sadhana Sambhrama' in Kodagu on Jan 9

On the occasion of completion of four years and nine months of the Congress-led state government, 'Sadhana Sambhrama' will be held in Kodagu district on January 9. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will preside over the programme. Also, ministers K J George, H S Mahadevappa, Kodagu District In-charge minister M R Seetharam will take part.

The district in-charge minister visited the spot on Thursday and conducted a meeting of officials and convened a party workers' meeting to discuss the preparations.

Briefing reports, Seetharam said that it was planned earlier to conduct separate programmes in Madikeri and Virajpet. But now it has been decided that the programme will be held only in Madikeri. 'Sadhana Sambhrama' will be held at General Thimaiah stadium or MFC College maidan.

The objective of the programme is to tell the people of the development programmes carried out during the tenure of the Congress-led state government.

Work on the private bus stand has been sped-up. Also, the road development works are being sped-up.

The groundbreaking for the over-bridge in Bhagamandala to be constructed at a cost of Rs 38 crore will be done on the day.

The minister further added that title deeds have been distributed to 9,000 people under 94 C and 94 CC. 5,000 more title deeds will be distributed soon.

The selection of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Kodagu will be done after the Sadhana Sambhrama.

Responding to a query on the selection of members of Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy, M R Seetharam said that senior Congress leaders who have worked for the party have been selected as members.

Non-literary members were selected as the members of the academy in earlier years as well, he pointed out.

The district in-charge minister vented his anger against CMC President Kaveramma Somanna and said that the CMC will not develop until the corrupt elected representatives are suspended. The road development is not taken care of. Around 35,000 people visited Madikeri on Christmas day. But they faced inconvenience due to bad roads.
