Terror threat: State police on high alert

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Home Minister V S Acharya said, the State government had received an alert from the Centre on Thursday night about a three-member LeT gang having entered Andhra Pradesh. “As a precautionary measure we have sounded our Intelligence department and also special wings to step up vigilance in the State”, the Home minister said.

Security in place

Karnataka, especially Bangalore City has been put on high alert and security has been beefed up in India’s IT hub.

A senior police officer confirmed it saying: “We have directed all IT & BT firms, multinational, hotels, shopping malls and private organisations to enhance their private security systems. Civil defence and fire forces have also been alerted. District administration has been instructed to take precautionary measures and keep vigil on all the sensitive installations. The State law and order situation and preparedness has been reviewed.”

Meanwhile, M R Poojar, Additional Commissioner, Law and Order, told reporters, “Security has been tightened at Railway stations, bus terminals, Airport and tollgates.”
