Whitefly menace: Raitha Sangha plans writ seeking compensation

Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene district unit organising secretary Manohar Shetty said that the Raitha Sangha is mulling over filing a writ in the court demanding compensation for farmers whose coconut farms have been affected by whitefly menace.

Ministers and the Member of Parliament have failed to pressurise the government to announce a special package for the farmers.

The affected trees in Kallapu, Thokkottu, Ullal, Kuthar have died. The government's promise of a suitable compensation has remained only on paper. In spite of the gravity of the situation, the district administration has not prepared a report in this regard, he alleged.
