Toll plazas run by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will soon have kiosks selling drinking water, tea/coffee, and packaged food for the convenience of highway users, the government said on Friday.
"Termed Highway Nest, these kiosks are under construction on both sides at all 372 NHAI run toll plazas," Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.
These kiosks will have also toilet facilities, including for the physically challenged.
Already two such kiosks have started functioning at toll plazas in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. Steps would be taken to provide similar amenities in the remaining toll plazas by the end of March 2018, the statement added.
