Gowd Saraswath Brahman Seva Sangha completes 80 years

Gowd Saraswath Brahman (GSB) Seva Sangha will organise its 80th anniversary celebrations at Sujir C V Nayak Hall, Kudmul Ranga Rao Road, Kadri, Mangaluru on January 28. Also, various programmes are being held to mark the celebrations throughout the year. The association was established in 1918.

Addressing reporters here, GSB Seva Sangha president Prof Dr Kasturi Mohan Pai said that the event will begin with the launch of the official website of the association at 10.30 am. A formal programme will be organised at 4.30 pm. Senior member of the seva sangha, Basti Gopal Ram Shenoy and Ammembal Bardinath Kamath will be the guests of honour.

He further said that the Sangha has created a GSB colony by building 120 low cost apartments for the community. As many as 40,000 students have been given service worth Rs 50 lakh in the form of study materials. Meritorious students are provided with scholarships. Mass holy thread ceremony is conducted by the association every year for the past 30 years. Also, senior citizens are being provided medical aid.

For the 80th anniversary, the GSB Seva Sangha has planned various programmes such as construction of a large community development-cum-convention centre, special programmes for the benefit of senior citizens, inter-community programme under the theme 'One India - one Nation', development programme for youth and also for the development of Konkani language, Prof Kasturi Mohan Pai said. Gowd Saraswath Brahman Seva Sangha Culture and Language in-charge Prakash Shenoy, coordinator Ashwin Bhat and Akhil Kamath were present.
