<p class="bodytext">Konasale Narasaraju (65), state vice president of Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene passed away here on Wednesday night, after a brief illness.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Narasaraju was unmarried and leaves behind his brothers and sisters. The body was kept near Sir M Visvesvaraya statue in the city, for the public to pay their last respects. The last rites were performed at Konasale village in Maddur taluk on Thursday evening.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Narasaraju had fought for the rights of the farmers since 38 years. He was associated with farmer leaders M D Nanjundaswamy, N D Sundaresh, and Babugowda Patil. He was a strong critic of the policies of the government and had actively participated in protests for the welfare of farmers. He was even sentenced to jail four times.</p>
