Farmer leader Konasale Narasaraju no more

Konasale Narasaraju (65), state vice president of Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene passed away here on Wednesday night, after a brief illness.

Narasaraju was unmarried and leaves behind his brothers and sisters. The body was kept near Sir M Visvesvaraya statue in the city, for the public to pay their last respects. The last rites were performed at Konasale village in Maddur taluk on Thursday evening.

Narasaraju had fought for the rights of the farmers since 38 years. He was associated with farmer leaders M D Nanjundaswamy, N D Sundaresh, and Babugowda Patil. He was a strong critic of the policies of the government and had actively participated in protests for the welfare of farmers. He was even sentenced to jail four times.
