Mysuru resident Darshan found a mention inPrime Minister Narendra Modi's first 'Mann Ki Baat' speech of the year, broadcast on All India Radio on Sunday.

Darshan, who benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Yojana Kendra (PMBJAYK), had written to the prime minister, thanking him for setting up such Kendras for the benefit of the people.

He had requested Modi to make a mention of the Kendra in his speech, to create awareness among the people of the country.

The prime minister, in his speech, said Darshan was earlier spending Rs 6,000 per month for the medical expenses of his father. The expenditure reduced by 75% after he started procuring medicines from the Jan Aushadhi Yojana Kendra.

According to former minister and BJPleader SARamdas, Darshan has been procuring medicines from the Jan Aushadhi Yojana Kendra at JPNagar in the city. Like him, hundreds have benefited from the Kendras in the city, he said.
