Volunteers paint humps in Bejai Church junction

Last Updated 30 March 2018, 17:28 IST

On the occasion of Good Friday, members of Rastriyavadi Christara Vedike painted the humps with zebra markings in Bejai Church Junction in Mangaluru.

Inaugurating the programme by painting white stripes on a hump at Bejai Main road opposite Bejai New Road, Ramakrishna Mutt seer Ekagamyanandaji Maharaj said that the voluntary work by the organisation of painting the humps is laudable. The work coincides with Good Friday, the day which reminds us of the good deeds and sacrifice of Jesus Christ to humanity. The programme should be an ongoing process, the seer added.

Rastriyavadi Christara Vedike founder president Franklin Monteiro said that the occasion of Good Friday marks the rituals of fasting, prayers and social service. The third aspect, however, is less focused upon. The forum has therefore, taken up the voluntary task to paint the faded humps on Bejai road, he added. The marking will help in preventing accidents, he said.

The members also painted the humps with zebra markings at Bejai Church junction.

Forum member and advocate Lenni Pinto, entrepreneurs Francis Pinto, Ronald Mascarenhas, Bennet Pinto and Mangalore Diocesan Catholic Council member Lydia D'Cunha were present among others.
