Six-year-old terminally ill D Ishan's dream of becoming a police commissioner came true on Wednesday when he donned the khaki uniform for a day.

His eyes were filled with joy when he took the salute from troops and addressed a press conference at the Rachakonda Commissionerate in Hyderabad.

Ishan, the younger of the three children of D Chand Pasha and Haseena couple from Medak district, is suffering from blood cancer and is undergoing treatment at MNJ Cancer hospital, Red Hills.

Make a Wish Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation that arranges 'wishes' for children with life-threatening medical conditions, interacted with Ishan's parents about his wish. They approached Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat and told him about Ishan's last wish.

Ishan, who is studying in Class II, was delighted to be a commissioner of police as he addressed a press conference. He said he wants to install CCTV cameras in the city to monitor the law-and-order situation and to create friendly policing atmosphere.

When asked by media what he will do as one-day police commissioner, Ishan replied, "I will control property offences and control law-and-order problems in Rachakonda Commisionarate."

Ishan wished to increase "She Teams" and police patrolling for women safety and security.
