Ministers visit KR Hospital; upset over condition

The ministers, accompanied by officials and doctors, went to visit different departments in the hospital. Noticing stretchers and wheelchairs in bad shape, with plasters and gauze cloth holding the rickety parts together, Suresh Kumar  objected to it. “Why have you not replaced the broken chairs? Who will be responsible for the lives of patients in case something happens to them while they are being carried on these?” he remarked  angrily. He expressed his displeasure about the unhygenic condition of toilets in all blocks.

With a trail of media persons and officials behind them, both the ministers went about collecting details of out patient department, facilities present and number of patients who visit on a daily basis etc. The ministers, accompanied visited Dr Geetha Avadhani, Medical Superintendent, Dr Venkatesh, Administrator, visited the mortuary at MMC and RI across the KR hospital.

At the upcoming unit of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Suresh Kumar sought to know when it would be completed. Unclear answers by officials invited his wrath, who were told to be on their toes especially pertaining to works on KR Hospital since it involved the lives of lakhs of poor people.

Subsequently, the ministers held meeting with officials for almost two hours. Promising to develop the hospital in phases after discussion with Chief Minister, Suresh Kumar said works pertaining to the proposed facelift would start soon.
