Murali Krishna, the producer of the film had sued Murthy, who was the hero and distributor of the film. The actor along with his friend and partner Zafarullah obtained distribution rights to certain areas for Rs 5.25 lakh.

According to the producer, the duo purchased the film by paying advance on the condition that the balance of Rs 3.45 lakh would be paid after collecting money from the exhibitors. However the matter reached the Chambers when the producer did not get his dues. He said that Murthy had already sold the rights for higher price and was producing a film.

Murthy, according to the producer, submitted a forged document before the Chambers and said that he has already paid the money as per the agreement.  The matter reached the Court and the 6th ACMM court convicted the actor on July 6, 2007. The Fast Track Court dismissed the appeal  against the conviction filed by Srinivasmurthy. However Naveen Kumar, Son of Srinivasa Murthy, when contacted, said that they will appeal against the order.
