Speaking to mediapersons here, President Vijay Kumar Hedge alleged that the company has failed to put into operation the required safety measures inside the plant. About 60 per cent of the works in the plant is complete. As per the contract signed, most of the constructions especially safety measures are yet to be set up. Safety devices like FGD, ash pond, clean coal technology and the height of the chimney lack proper installation in the site.

The size of the pipes of the pipe line meant for channeling cooled water back to the sea is inaccurate, he added.

He said the company has been able to venture in this part of area owing to the support given by BJP. “BJP is involved in unlawful works in the name of development. All ministers and MLAs are against the democratic values in the society.”

District JD(S) President Deviprasad Shetty, Congress leader Amrith Shenoy, Nandikur Janajagruthi Samiti Member Thampanna Shetty and others were present.
