Revenue collection buoyant: Yeddyurappa

Speaking at a religious programme here on Tuesday, Yeddyurappa said there was a shortfall in revenue collection last year due to global economic recession and the situation has improved this year with the easing of recession. He said the the government too has initiated measures to plug revenue pilferage.

The Chief Minister announced construction of an auditorium in the name of Taralabalu mutt pontiff Shivamurthy Shivacharya Swamiji at his native Sugur near here at a cost of Rs five crore. The funds for construction will be mobilised in through government grants and contribution from the devotees.

A convention of organic farmers will be held in Koodalasangama on May 23. More than two lakh farmers are expected to take part in the event, said Yeddyurappa.

Former president A P J Abdul Kalam, Taralabalu mutt seer and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari  Veerendra Heggade will be invited for the programme, he said.

Yeddyurappa said a convention of newly-elected members of GPs will be held in Bangalore on June 19.
