Moderate quake strikes off Indonesia

The quake struck at 7:13 am (local time), 36 km northwest of Ujung Kulon, West Java, at a depth of 10 km, the geophysics and meteorological agency said.

"The shaking was felt in many areas, including Jakarta, but the quake was not damaging," agency technical head Suharjono told reporters. Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
