Horror film fest in City

On May 22, 5 pm, watch Mondo Macabro: Horror & Fantasy in South Asia. Mondo Macabro was a British television series based on the book of the same name by Pete Tombs. Written, produced and directed by Pete Tombs and Andy Starke, the series focused on cult cinema from countries not usually associated with genre product.

Watch Zinda Lash on the same day at 6.30 pm. It is directed by Khwaja Sarfaraz and the cast includes Habib, Rehan, Asad, Yasmeena, Nasreen, Talish. The only Pakistani film to be rated ‘X’ in its country of origin, this is the first Dracula film to include a shocking baby stealing scene. The film is in Urdu.

On May 23, 5 pm, Aurat Raj (Urdu), directed by Rangila, will be screened. It has Waheed Murad, Rani, Sultan Rahi, Chakori, Naghma, Khanum, Rangila and Nanna. Waheed Murad is the most despicable husband to his wife Rani. Rani snaps... and unwilling to take any more, vows not to give up like a typical simpering Pakistani woman. What Rangila has managed to create is not only one of the most important and ground-breaking films in Lollywood history, but also a masterfully camouflaged satire with the most hysteria-inducing comedy and farce.

Zibahkhana will be screened on May 23, 7.30 pm. Directed by Omar Ali Khan, it is in Urdu and English. Set in contemporary Islamabad, it depicts a bunch of college kids, many of them middle-class and affluent, who are driving to a rock show. They decide to take a short cut, but are stranded in a rural region unknown to them, one populated by all manner of ghoulish, bloodthirsty villagers.
