Q I am 15 years old. My height is 5 feet one inch and I weigh 33.5 kg. I cycle every day and play outdoors. I follow a balanced diet. How can I grow taller and gain more weight?

A It’s good to know that you are physically active and following a balanced eating plan. However, you must remember that the intensity of physical activity should be moderate to high where, in addition to sports, some days should be devoted to resistance training. Resistance training helps build muscle, thus quality weight. As water provides an ideal amount of resistance, it would be wise to start swimming lessons at least once a week. This sport should help you gain the weight  and height you are after. Simultaneously, your eating plan should  incorporate sprouts, legumes, milk, curds, cheese, dried fruits and nuts along with wholegrain cereals and grains. Make sure you are having your five servings of fruits and vegetables every day (3 vegetables and 2 fruits). Divide your total food consumption into 3 meals and 2 snacks, and space them intelligently.
