5 held, stolen property recovered

The arrested are Girish (28), Gajendra (28), Rajesh (26), Gangadhar (22) and Hariharan (22), all from Chennakeshavnagar. According to the police, Kanchivaradaiah had loaded the copper scraps from Ramdevji Metal Mart on Mysore Road recently. He was taking the scraps to Chikmagalur. Kanchivaradaiah and two of his workers Dhanashekar and Okyaram were proceeding towards Chikmagalur when they were waylaid.

The accused, who came in a vehicle, accosted the tempo at Veerabhadranagar near Hanumanthnagar. They dragged Kanchivaradaiah out of the tempo and thrashed him. They tied Dhanashekhar with a rope and plastered his mouth. Okyaram jumped out of the tempo and fled.

The two of them drove the tempo with Kanchivaradaiah and Dhanashekar in it, while the others followed them. After a few minutes of journey, they threw Kanchivaradaiah and Dhanashekar out. All of them got into the tempo and fled leaving behind their vehicle. Based on tips, the police arrested the suspects two days after the incident near Satellite Bus stop, added the police.
