SJVN may set up solar project in State

Disclosing it to the reporters on Tuesday, SJVN Chairman and Managing Director H K Sharma said, “We are looking forward to work for the project. We are in touch with Airvoice, the company which has signed MoU with the Karnataka Government.

This will be a part of diversification plan of the SJVN which intends to enter into solar and wind power generation.”

The SJVN sources told Deccan Herald that the company has asked Airvoice for detailed project report and the decision would be taken accordingly.

He said that the SJVN has agreed in principle to work for the project but everything would depend on the project details.

Airvoice has proposed to set up a 10,000 MW Solar Power Project in Karnataka.  
In addition to that SJVN has decided to produce 50 MW of wind energy; a consultant for this will be finalised shortly. The locations for wind energy will be finalised after that only. The CMD said that coastal areas of Gujarat and Chennai are good locations.

He said company is implementing three projects in Himachal Pradesh, three projects in Uttarakhand, one in Manipur besides two projects in Bhutan and one in Nepal.
