Pejawar seer Vishweshatheertha Swamiji participating in the protest said that it is a tragic situation that farmers have to stage protest to save their lands.
Calling the coercive acquisition of Gregory’s land as ‘height of injustice,’ the Seer said: “There are lot of barren land available in the State where the government can establish industry freely. There is no need of acquiring fertile, cultivable land for this purpose,” he said clarifying that he has no objection to what the Court has to decide but what he objects to is the fact that a citizen of this nation who too has the right to justice has been thrown out on street along with his family without being given a fair chance to move to the Court.
Fr William Martis said that Gregory’s plight holds mirror to the fact that there is no value for ‘Gandhigiri’ in this State.
“Peaceful means of protests will not yeild result. If it would, then atleast one official or elected representative would have come to Gregory to enquire about his problems. There is a need to take up alternate method,” he said citing that there is a need to resort to rigorous methods of protest, which was taken up by Mamatha Banerjee in West Bengal.
