The train will leave Birur everyday and reach Anandapura via Shimoga and will return to Birur in the evening. Addressing the reporters, K B Mallikarjuna said that broad gauge conversion of Birur to Anandapura route and the train will be of great convenience of the passengers. The broad gauge conversion till Thalaguppa will be completed soon, which will help the passengers and cargo movement from Sagar and coastal districts.
He said that some officials are conspiring to shift the proposed Railway Training Centre elsewhere, from Chikmagalur, citing reasons of non availability of space.
“Birur Town Municipal Council is ready to provide adequate land for the purpose and hence the institute must be set up in the district at any cost,” he said. Zilla Panchayat President Kemparaju said that Union Minister of State for Railways Muniyappa has released sum of Rs 60 crore has been released for Kadur-Chikmagalur railway works.
Birur Town Municipal Council President Shashidhar among others were present.
