I am 21 years old. I travel 20 km every day to reach my office. I have long hair but I lose a handful every day. Is this because my hair is exposed to the polluted air while I travel to work? The amount of hair loss increases when I use a conditioner. What should I do to reduce hair fall?


A It is perfectly normal to lose a few strands of hair every day. In fact, the loss of 40-50 strands a day is normal. Hair loss may not be related to the conditioner you are using. Drink plenty of water. Ten to twelve glasses of water keep the internal system in good condition and eliminate toxins. Eat plenty of leafy, green vegetables, fruits and dairy products to step up your protein intake. Vitamins, iron, protein and other nutrients must be present in your food. Spinach keeps your hair healthy. Increase your intake of zinc since this prevents hair fall. Wholegrain flour contains zinc. Exercise is also a good way of reducing hair fall. It improves blood circulation. The hair follicles receive a healthy supply of blood from the vessels. Don’t use tight elastic bands, clips and pins as they can cause breakage, which is another cause of hair fall. Avoid complicated hair styles.
