Farmers advised to cultivate quality tobacco crop

He was addressing the farmers after inaugurating a workshop for the tobacco growing farmers which was organised in a joint effort of tobacco boards Ramanathpura Auction Center, ITC and ILTD Company in Thorenooru village near Kushalnagar.

He explained the farmers about the crop maintenance in tobacco farms and also suggested that the farmers can obtain a good outcome if they use intercropping system, use methods for proper fertilisation and plant protection.

Dr Venkatesh from Tobacco Research Foundation interacted with the farmers and insisted them to follow the timely farming and proper management of plants. “Appropriate steaming of tobacco leaves, proper management of barren house also indirectly effects the tobacco crop quality. The tobacco farmers must give equal preference to tobacco curing as well as grading,” he suggested.

Tobacco board’s Ramanathapaura Auction Center Superintenedent Shivarudriah insisted the farmers to observe the variations in tobacco price in the market depending on the quality of the tobacco.

Tobacco Board Senior Grading Officers R Srinivas, Srikantiah, Block Officers Mithilesh, Hebbale Canara Bank Manager P Ananthaguptha, Gram Panchayat President T K Vaasnth and others were present.  The tobacco growers from Hebbale, Shirangala, Aluvara, Manajuru, Huluse particiapted in the workshop.
