On Sunday, students who secured ranks from 6,401 to 8,200 appeared for counselling. CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore Institute of Technology and BNM Institute of Technology were some of the preferred colleges by students.
Several students who could not secure a seat in their preferred colleges were upset during the afternoon session. “There is no point pursuing a course in any discipline. Electronics seats in my preferred college are over. I will try my luck in the Comed-K counselling,” says Goutham M V, who secured 7,851 rank in CET.
Many parents said they were ready to pay the extra fee for a seat in their ward’s college of preference.
Outstation candidates opted for colleges near their own districts. “I am planning to opt for JSS College of Engineering, Mysore. Computer Science is my second preferred discipline, if I do not get Electronics,” said Chaithra, a student from Mysore. Close to 33,200 seats will be available for engineering aspirants on Monday.
