Last Updated 21 July 2010, 16:28 IST

On the occasion of the 30th Farmer Martyrs’ Day, farmers resolved to launch a rally, demanding the protection of the natural resources in the State, formulation of a pro-people national mining policy, and ban on the export of ore.

The convention also urged the State Government to take up rehabilitation works at flood-affected areas in North Karnataka region on a war footing, and to waive off farmers’ loans and to provide fresh loans to them.

Later, the Farmer Martyrs’ Day programmes were also organised at Nargund and Navalgund, the epicentre of the farmers’ agitation 30 years ago.
