State government offers special package to naxals

Incentives will be distributed to those who surrender with weapons

Police sources have informed that the amount will be given to the naxalites depending on the fatality and capacity of the weapons.

The details of the incentives fixed by the Government per weapon are as follows.  A sum of Rs 15,000 each has been fixed for AK-47, AK-56, AK-74 rifles. UMG, GPM, RPG and Sniper rifles at Rs 25,000 each, pistols and revolvers Rs 3,000 each, rocket (launcher) Rs 1,000 each, other explosives Rs 500 each, remote control devices Rs 3,000 each and all types of bullets will be given Rs 3 each.

Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Rs 1,000 each, land mine Rs 3,000 each, explosive material Rs 1,000 per kg, wireless sets Rs 1,000 each, high frequency wireless sets Rs 5,000 each. One SAM missile will be given Rs 20,000, a satellite phone set Rs 10,000, VHF/HF communication equipment at Rs 5,000, modern explosives Rs 50 each, other explosives Rs 10 each, reads an order from Government.

Additional incentives

About 20 per cent additional incentives will be given to surrendered extremists if he/she lets out information to police about their comrades and groups and help police in nabbing the naxalites functioning in the area.

The prize money announced on a particular naxalite thus arrested will be given to the surrendered naxalite with the help of whose information, the naxalite will be nabbed.

Info on weapon

Additional incentives will also be given to surrendered extremists if he or she gives information regarding the weapon dumping spots of the naxalites.

The State Finance Department has already received nod for the said special package, informed the police source.

Martyrs’ Day

Police security has been beefed up in Malenad region as July 27 is observed as Martyrs’ Day by the naxalites. The number of policemen patrolling the area has been increased. Vehicles were checked on main road.
