Of the two, one is a girl aged 12 years from Bangalore City and another is a boy aged 14 years from Haveri town. The Sanjay Nagar police booked Dr Jagadish Bellur, a resident of Dollars Colony for allegedly employing juveniles under Section 3 and 4 of Child Labour Act and Section 26 of Juvenile Justice Act. The two children were sent to Child Welfare Committee. Dr Bellur and his family members were not at the house when the children were rescued.

The Federation president Pramila Nesargi told Deccan Herald: “Dr Bellur had employed the two children for the last six months.”
The girl, a Class IV student in a government school was employed for Rs 1,500 per month. Her father Hanumanthappa discontinued her studies to support family due to acute poverty. She has two brothers.

Nesargi said Dr Bellur had threatened Hanumanthappa that he would lodge complaint of theft against his daughter if he spilled beans about his daughter being a domestic help or discontinued her work. The boy was also working for Rs 1,500 per month.
