Learn, but also play, says TP president

He was speaking after inaugurating the Hobli level sports meet on the playground of Taluk Kadahalli Government Higher Primary School on Wednesday. The games were conducted in joint effort by Zilla Panchayat, and the Public Education Department. Byatappa passed on the lit torch to the children participating in the games.

Students in the rural areas should make it a habit to participate in exercise, yoga and games along with everyday studies. They should have a love for games and sports, he added.

Benefits of games

Concentration, enthusiasm, and peace of mind are increased by games, said Taluk Physical Education Officer Yallappa. Cultural and sports activities should be held in schools every month in order to improve the children’s personalities. The children should be taught that a sportsman spirit is more important than victory or loss, said Taluk Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana Regional Resource Person G Srinivas.

It is important to give up the craze for private schools and send children to government schools in order to utilise the facilities provided by the government, said Primary School Teachers’ Association General Secretary Venkatashivappa.

Hobli level Sports Association President K C Srinivas presided over the function. SDMC President P Srinivas, Grama Panchayat President Ammanalluru Ratnamma, Kyalanuru Narasimhamurthy, Group Resource Persons Kyalanuru Sonnayya, Madderi Venkateshappa, Narasapura K Srinivas, Vemagal Brahmachari, Teachers’ Association leaders N P Srinivas, B Satish, R Narayanaswami, Shivaraj, Sureshbabu, Jayashri, Ashwath were present on the occasion. Manjunath of Bharat Seva Dal was the narrator of the function.

Physical trainer Bhagyalakshmi welcomed the gathering. Colleague Narayanaswami gave the vote of thanks.
