Mastering technology

The workshop that was held at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering saw 45 teams from 25 colleges across the City participate.

It was an exclusive workshop on 'Swarm Robotics' that delved into the mechanics and nuances of Robotics.  The eight-hour workshop covered various aspects including categories such as line following, obstacle detection and grid navigation. It did well in orienting the students towards mastering the technology.

Fahid and Mohit Jain, two senior engineers employed with leading corporate companies conducted the workshop. “This workshop is a preparation prior to Techfest 2011 to be held in IIT Bombay campus. Here the students will learn how to apply the knowledge gained in the classrooms. It will also give them a glimpse of the hybrid nature of robotics,” says Fahid.
Each student was provided with a kit to work upon the theories being taught during the workshop.

Mohit Sadhwani, a final year student of Electrical and Electronics at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering says the workshop did well in giving him an insight into various aspects of technology.  “The main aim of the workshop was to train the students who would be interested in taking part in the World Robotics Championship. Now our task is to make a robot which can solve grid problems. I am confident about making one but the only constraint is to make a system which can work faster than others,” he says.
