According to the police, Supreeth had arrived at Kushalnagar to attend his friend’s sister’s marriage. On Sunday morning, Supreeth along with his friends went for a swim in the backwaters, when the mishap occurred. Though his friends tried to rescue him, they failed in their bid.
Swimmers succeeded in recovering the body after four hours of search. The body was handed over to Supreeth’s parents after a post mortem at Suntikoppa hospital.

Two brothers from Bangalore who had gone to Sringeri drowned in Tunga river on Saturday, in their attempt to save their mother Rajamma and sister Meena from the whirlpool. The mother and sister are safe but the brothers, Mani (28) and Vinod (25) were washed away in the river.

The CCB sleuths arrested two persons in Bangalore for allegedly converting domestic gas cylinders into commercial ones. They have recovered 18 gas cylinders worth Rs 1.35 lakh, five small filled cylinders, a hand pump, filling rods, weighing machines, an autorickshaw, one bicycle, two cellphones and Rs 10,200 cash.The accused are Ramesh (27) and Madesh (21).
