JOIN USThe incident took place on September one and the victim has been identified as Kishan (19).Sources said Kishan and Gopal, a gardener on contract in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, were consuming alcohol and the latter asked the teenager to get snacks as they finished it.
Kishan, whose father also works as a gardener in the Bhavan, refused to get snacks and an argument ensued over this, they said, adding Gopal allegedly threatened him with a knife and asked him to get the snacks.
As Kishan continued to refuse, sources said, an enraged Gopal attempted to stab Kishan which the victim tried to resist.However, Gopal allegedly stabbed him in his stomach.
Kishan ran away from the spot and was spotted by another Rashtrapati Bhavan employee who took him to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.Initially, police could not establish the chain of events as Kishan remained unfit for statement. But after regaining consciousness, Kishan told the police that Gopal had stabbed him.
Gopal surrendered before a court yesterday and was sent to judicial custody.
A case of attempt to murder was registered against him.
