A resolution passed by the Council seeks steep increase in sitting fee and other perks.
The resolution as mooted by the Ruling party has sought to increase the sitting fee for Mayor by Rs 25,000 as against the present Rs 5,000; hike of Rs 20,000 against current Rs 3,000 for the Deputy Mayor.

Ten-fold increase

A ten-fold increase in sitting fee for corporators - Rs 15,000 from the present Rs 1,500.
The allowance for Standing Committee members has also been sought to be increased to Rs 500 from the present Rs 100 per meeting.

The resolution also seeks to exponential increase in reimbursement of telephone bill from the present Rs 750 to Rs 6,000 per month.

Committee constituted

The Palike has constituted a 13-member committee to consider Public Private Partnership (PPP) in solid waste management. The Palike is also exploring the possibilities of the PPP model on the lines of the one adopted in Puducherry and Uttar Pradesh.

The model as followed in the other states involves the granting of land without any returns. Even the processing fee is waived off.

The new proposal has been initiated by the BBMP to explore the possibilities of dumping the garbage at no cost, with no returns either.

Tenders are to be floated to finalise the contractors for collection of garbage.
It is learnt that the dumping yard would be provided by the BBMP without expecting the contractors to pay any rent for the property.
