Corp Bank eyes 70 pc biz share in M'lore: CMD

There is huge potential for people who want to invest

At present, the bank’s share is only 10 to 20 per cent.

Speaking to a section of media persons for the first time after he took charge as the Chairman and Managing Director  of the bank at its head office here on Tuesday, he said though four nationlised banks were started in this region, only Corporation Bank continues to serve the people with its headquarters still in Mangalore while others have moved to greener pastures.

Praising Mangaloreans and their business activities, he said that there is a huge opportunity for people who want to invest in the region. “There is good opportunity for construction industry and retail shops,” he opined.

Stating that the bank has done pioneering job in financial inclusion, Pradeep said the bank wants to go to rural areas and to reach rural people.

‘Mobile-kanike’

Pradeep said the bank plans to start ‘mobile-kanike’ on the lines of ‘e-kanike’ which was launched at Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala through Corporation Bank’s e-payment gateway, on Monday.

He said the Bank is providing service to the people using latest technology.
“With the launching of such facility, the devotees can send offerings whenever they wish to,” he said and added in a lighter vein that people remember god whenever they are in distress.

Bank Executive Director Narendra Singh and General Manager Swathi were present.
