<p>Twenty-two-year-old Aditi, daughter of a famous city cardiologist Dr Ranjit Jagtap, was arrested after the incident on Tuesday night and booked under various Sections of the <br /><br />Motor Vehicle Act and 279 of the IPC for reckless driving.<br />She was produced in a court on Wednesday which granted her bail on a surety of Rs 15,000. Police said Aditi, a student of interior designing, was not found to be under the influence of alcohol when she was behind the wheel since medical tests in this regard tested negative.<br /><br />Her lawyer claimed the incident was a result of “panic reaction” by the woman and that she had no intention to flee the scene after the car hit a pedestrian. Aditi panicked and lost control of the luxury car in Kondhwa area after hitting a woman pedestrian on Wednesday night, police said, adding that she then entered a “no entry” lane with the vehicle dashing against about a dozen other vehicles, causing scare and chaos, police said.<br /><br />According to police, panic reaction on part of the driver after her car hit the pedestrian, set off more trouble as she took a wrong side dashing against many vehicles on Salunke Vihar Road. Police, who have stepped up vigil for the ongoing Ganesh festivities, reached the scene when a mob had started pelting stones at the car. Two of the injured were treated at a hospital and none was reported to be in a serious condition.<br /></p>
