M Shankar (50), the resident of the house and a wholesale dealer of onion was at his shop when the robbers forced their way into his house.
According to the police, the robbers gained entry into the house on the pretext of enquiring about an address and tied up his wife Annamma (35) and daughter Sathyapreethi (13) with ropes.
The intruders aged between 20 and 25, threatened them with the knifepoint and decamped with Rs 12 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 7.5 lakh. They were conversing in Kannada and Tamil.
Minutes after they fled, Annamma freed herself and contacted her husband on phone and narrated the incident. Later Shankar informed the police.
According to the police the robbers might be aware of Shankar’s routine. A team has been constituted to nab the culprits.
Found dead
Alla Baksh (35) was found hanging from the ceiling at his Sarbandepalya residence in Kumaraswamy Layout on Thursday night. He was living alone.
