Sanjay Gandhi Nagar residents receive title-deeds, at last

He was speaking during a programme organised by the Town Municipal Council on Friday to hand over the title-deeds to the residents of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar area of Bangarpet town.
“I was the president of the Slum Clearance Board in 1990. An amount of Rs 27 lakh was released for the construction of 70 houses in the slums in town. But the money was not utilised. Although one reason was instances of corruption, the more important reason was that the beneficiaries themselves did not come forth to demand what was due for them. Therefore, the funds released were returned at the end of the year, having no claimants,” explained Narayanaswamy.

A request has been sent to Slum Clearance Board chairman J Narasimhaswamy, who visited Bethamangala recently, to consent to provide plots and residence to the slum-dwellers in Town. “He has assured us of a positive response,” Narayanaswamy said.

Municipal Council president K Chandra Reddy, former presidents Shamshuddin Babu and K M Narayanaswamy, Shivakumar, Kishore Kumar, Nanjunda Gowda, Pratap, Ajamatullah, M Govinda, Somappa were present.
