A case was registered against a man for posting a derogatory comment on Prophet Mohammed, on social media.
The case was registered against one Shashikant Poojary who had posted the derogatory comments in response to a post uploaded on the Facebook page by one Nasir Mohammed on December 8.
Complainant Shabbir Abdul Khader alleged that the comments are inciting communal hate. He had urged the police to take appropriate action against Poojary for attempting to disturb communal harmony in Shirva. Poojary had hurt the religious sentiments of Muslim community, the complaint stated.
A case was registered under IT Act 2008 66(D) and IPC Section 505 (2) against Poojary in Shirva police station.
