JD(S) candidate to start 'ward stay'

Last Updated 21 April 2018, 11:11 IST

JD(S) candidate for Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency Rajanna Koravi has planned to start 'ward stay' for campaigning effectively.

"After filing nomination papers, I will stay in each ward in the constituency, one after another. This will help me to understand people's problems and for campaigning effectively," he said.

He told media persons here on Saturday that he would file the nomination on Monday (April 23), after taking out a procession from Siddappajja Mutt at Unkal.

The JD(S) is systematically organised from the booth-level this time, and a door-to-door campaign is also conducted. People are expressing the desire to bring change this time, by rejecting sitting MLA Jagadish Shettar, due to lack of development in the constituency. After tasting defeat in 2013 elections, Congress candidate Mahesh Nalwad did not respond to people's problems, though Congress was in power, and therefore, people would not elect him this time, Koravi said.

A comprehensive inquiry should be conducted about the alleged role of Jagadish Shettar in the issues of allotment of excess land acquired for airport upgradation and construction of sports and recreation complex at Huballi Sports Ground, he added.
