Elections declared for three local bodies

The election for three urban local bodies, which was postponed following the flood, will be held on October 28. The code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect.

The election will be held in all wards of Somwarpet, Virajpet and Kushalnagar Town Panchayats.

The deputy commissioner will issue the revised notification on October 16.

The nomination papers will be scrutinised on October 17 and October 20 will be the last date to withdraw nomination papers.

The election will be held from 7 am to 5 pm on October 28.

Re-election, if needed, will be held on October 30. The counting of votes will be held on October 31 at the taluk centres.

Somwarpet, Kushalnagar and Virajpet Town Panchayats comprise 11, 13 and 16 wards respectively.
