Sentiment sweeps off burning issue

Powerhouse performers, a highly relevant issue as the plot... Vira Parampare has it all. Narayan has chosen well. His screenplay is a searing comment on the present-day scenario in the land acquisition mess the government often finds itself in.

The Rebel Star rides the screen like a colossus, his entry getting a welcome fit for the last of the allround performers-cum-superstars. Much improved from the days of Kallarali Hoovagi, Ambareesh delights old and young fans like only he can. That too minus his patented walk and mannerisms. Giving him ample support is Sudeep, in another bravura performance after Kicha Hucha. Between them, the duo sets the screen on fire, trading their best in each frame. Vijayalakshmi Singh in her miniscule role is way above the usual ‘supporting actor’ class members. But Narayan seems to be on a self-distructing mode, dragging the story with stupid songs and irritating sentiment scenes. Trimming this fat would have given the eager audience a superhit film to enjoy, but that’s not to be. Aindrita Ray-Sudeep chemistry doesn’t register, what with cinematographer Giri blindly allowing his director’s penchant for superfluous graphics work to get the better of him. Villain Sudipto could have postponed his entry into Kannada films.

Vira Parampare is a must-watch for Ambi-Sudeep fans and devotees of cinema.
