<p>Mumbai: As the iconic film <em>Sholay</em> celebrated its golden jubilee, the India Post released two specially-designed picture postcards. </p><p>Produced by late G P Sippy, <em>Sholay</em> is one of the most successful movies of Indian entertainment industry. </p><p>The event - held at the General Post Office at Fort in Mumbai - marked 50 years since the film’s original release on August 15, 1975.</p><p>Chief Postmaster General Amitabh Singh, who heads the Maharashtra Circle officially unveiled the commemorative items and presented the first album to Ramesh Sippy, the acclaimed director of <em>Sholay</em>.</p><p>The occasion was graced by noted personalities including Shehzad Sippy, Rohan Sippy, Kiran Joneja and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, the Director Film Heritage Foundation, Senior postal officers present included Director Postal Services (Mumbai Region), Kaiya Arora; Director of Postal Services (Headquarters), Maharashtra Circle Simran Kaur and Director, Mumbai GPO, Rekha Rizvi.</p>.Sholay@50: Sachin Pilgaonkar remembers his role as Rahim Chacha’s son, chopped scene with Gabbar.<p>The launch attracted a large gathering of philatelists and film enthusiasts, reflecting the film’s enduring popularity. </p><p>Half a century after its release, Sholay continues to hold a special place in the cultural and cinematic heritage of India.</p><p>“What better way to celebrate 50years of Sholay then to be with Ramesh Sippy on 15th August and to release the postal postcard and first time ever inland with Sholay franking at the GPO, Mumbai thanks to Chief Post Master General, Amitabh Singh,” Dungarpur posted on X.</p>
