<p class="bodytext">Road development, construction of stormwater drains and footpaths received major thrust during my term, said Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Bhaskar K whose tenure ended on Thursday. He said he was totally satisfied with his work during his tenure.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Bhaskar, who was elected as Mayor on March 8, 2018 listed the developmental works implemented during his tenure. “Under Amrit project, work on underground drainage (UGD) and drinking water supply was taken up at a cost of Rs 179.50 crore. Four parks had been developed in the city for Rs 2 crore and four markets had been developed in MCC limits. Work on the stormwater drain is under progress and estimated to cost around Rs 4 crore.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">Under the second phase of Area Based Development (ADB) project, Rs 195 crore grant was reserved for UGD development works and Rs 218.54 crore for 24x7 drinking water supply.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The height of the new vented dam in Thumbe was increased up to 7 feet and the farmers whose lands were submerged are being compensated. Facilities worth Rs 565.20 lakh was disbursed to people belonging to SC/ST and backward communities, minority and physically challenged.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Programmes planned under Smart City including reconstruction of the central market for Rs 145 crore, bus terminal for Rs 500 crore, command control centre for Rs 38 crore and smart roads for Rs 300 crore, were taken up.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Land had been identified in Jeppu, Karangalpadi and Carstreet to develop the market and commercial complexes on DBFOT (Design, Build, Fund, Operate and Transfer) basis, he added.</p>
