ICC World Cup NZ vs AUS Highlights: Starc fifer powers Aussies to comfortable victory

The Kiwis never looked like being in the chase
01:25
Kiwis have their task cut out in final game
The less said about this New Zealand performance the better. When they had the Aussies under the pump at 92-5, you could smell a collapse coming, but it never did. Carey came in and calculatedly counter-attacked along with Khawaja to take Australia to a competitive total. In the end, it was 86 runs more than what they needed.
Guptill and his new opening partner, Nicholls, started well, seeing out the early overs, and putting the bad balls away. Nicholls fell to a strangle down and Guptill was taken out by an inswinger from Behrendorff. Williamson and Taylor put in their typical resistance but were not able to score many runs. The skipper then fell to a rare lapse in concentration and it was all downhill from there.
Taylor followed him soon after, looking to attack Cummins, and he started a procession where de Grandhomme, Latham, Neesham all falling within a few overs of each other. The tail did not hang around for too long either, and Australia finished the job off with more than 6 overs left in the game.
So New Zealand hope India beat England tomorrow, or else they'll have to play a virtual quarter final against the latter. Tomorrow is the big game, so do join us in the live coverage. Till then, goodbye and goodnight!

Aus win toss; choose to bat first
Finch calls right and he will bat first. Same old reasons- it is a used wicket, and it will wear down and spin more in the second innings. No changes for Australia.
Williamson would have wanted to bat first as well. Ish Sodhi makes his first appearance at the WC, while Henry Nicholls is in for Colin Munro at the top.
17:35
Aaron Finch has won the toss at Lord's (!) and has elected to BAT first. "Hopefully the pitch will slow up later on," Finch tells the broadcast. #CWC19pic.twitter.com/UJ0L2Q1qm4
New Zealand lost comprehensively to a resurgent Pakistan, which boosted the latter's chances of making it to the semis. It was also their first loss of the campaign and they will not want to add to the losses column today. A win will seal their spot, while a loss may make their final group stage match against England a virtual quarterfinal.
Australia had a terrific day out at Lord's last time around, as Jason Behrendorff claimed a fifer which led them to a massive victory over tournament hosts, England. They seem to have settled on a potent playing XI, and will look to further their momentum going into the semis.

Change of bowling and it will be Lockie Ferguson to bowl.
9.1 Ferguson to Warner, OUT, strikes first ball! That is a beauty to bowl first up! Lockie goes back of a length, and gives him no room to work with, the pace is such that Dave has to arch back and he has no time to drop his bat or take it away from the line. It catches the edge and it is a simple catch for the keeper

Time for the national anthems
Australia's anthem is played first, followed by that of New Zealand
Team News
New Zealand XI: Martin Guptill, Henry Nicholls, Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham(wk), James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult
Australia XI: Aaron Finch(c), David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Jason Behrendorff
Kiwis look to seal spot in the knockouts
New Zealand lost comprehensively to a resurgent Pakistan, which boosted the latter's chances of making it to the semis. It was also their first loss of the campaign and they will not want to add to the losses column today. A win will seal their spot, while a loss may make their final group stage match against England a virtual quarterfinal.
Australia had a terrific day out at Lord's last time around, as Jason Behrendorff claimed a fifer which led them to a massive victory over tournament hosts, England. They seem to have settled on a potent playing XI, and will look to further their momentum going into the semis.
